For over ten years, the Town Club of Mountain Lakes has partnered with Saint Clare’s Hospital Prenatal Healthstart Clinic to bring a gift-filled holiday to local families in need. These young families are so appreciative of the joy we deliver through this program. In 2024, the Mountain Lakes community sponsored 57 families providing necessities like coats, clothing, food store gift cards, baby items, and toys for young children. The Mountain Lakes community contributed a conservatively estimated $15,000 in donations through last year’s Adopt-a-Family program!

Adopt-a-Family 2025

How does Adopt-a-Family work?

  • Adopt a family! After signing up, volunteers are matched with a family based on size of their choosing. After Thanksgiving, volunteers receive the family’s wish list via email and shop for the much-needed items on their wish list. Parents often ask for clothing items and food store gift cards and children ask for clothing, shoes, and a toy or two. Items are purchased, wrapped, labeled, and dropped off on December 9th or 10th at a local home in Mountain Lakes all by the volunteer.

  • Transport the (many) festively wrapped gifts! The wrapped gifts are then transported from Mountain Lakes to Saint Clare’s Dover Hospital for distribution on December 12th at 9am by volunteers. Spanish speakers and volunteers with large SUVs are especially needed. If interested, you can indicate this when signing up to adopt your family.

  • Donate any monetary amount! If you are unable to purchase items for a family, we also accept monetary donations which are used to purchase gift cards to food stores and discount stores to be distributed by the clinic to their patients as needed. These gift cards are used to purchase food, diapers, formula, and medications. We also leave the clinic stocked with diapers, which your monetary donation also helps to cover.

  • Have a girl scout troop, company, book club, etc. looking to give back for the holidays? Reach out to us to adopt a family or find out other ways you can help at townclubml07046@gmail.com

Clothing and Diaper Drive

Stay tuned for our next drive!

The Town Club of Mountain Lakes hosts a fall and spring Clothing and Diaper Drive which benefits Moms Helping Moms, a non-profit foundation that provides diapers and baby essentials to under-resourced families throughout New Jersey. We also partner with Helpsy to recycle and re-use all sizes of clothing, textiles, garments, suitcases, pillows, stuffed animals, and more!

Children’s clothing under size 5T and other baby and children’s items are donated directly to Moms Helping Moms

Please package adult clothing, textiles, shoes, accessories separate from clothing under 5T and baby items as they are donated to separate places!
